ISSEY MIYAKE
Issey Miyake, famous for his colourful silk fabrics and recycled polyester materials, creates fashion from the corner of design. After completing his graphic design studies in Tokyo, he learnt from the greats in Paris: Guy Laroche and Hubert de Givenchy.
Known for his technoid style, fashion designer Issey Miyake always endeavours to innovate in fabric development and processing. The Pleats Please line is all about pleated fabrics, combined with minimal seams to guarantee an extravagant look on everyone.
Whether strikingly colourful or classic black - Miyake's fashion always has that certain something extra. The different lines Issey Miyake, Pleats Please Issey Miyake, HaaT, Cauliflower, BaoBao always pick up on different themes and are all unique and different in themselves.
The latest line 132 5. - conceived together with computer scientist Jun Mitani - consists of flat folded pieces of fabric made from recycled, soft polyester which, when lifted, unfold into three-dimensional garments such as dresses, trousers or skirts, similar to origami.
